The function of the mind is to think all the time and generate new ideas in the mind.  The mind does this constantly.  The same thing happens during sleep.  Muhammad (PBUH) described death as the sister of sleep.  This means that the brain does not stop thinking even in its semi-dead state, i.e. sleep.  Which is called a dream.  Even if someone gets hurt during an accident and becomes unconscious for a while or goes into a coma for a long time.  Or one may suffer from some kind of insanity or addiction.  As long as a person breathes, the process of thinking continues.  This series of thoughts and ideas occurs in the form of a scattered crowd or a state of distraction. When one is in a state of awareness and consciousness.  All these thoughts of his are simultaneously on different topics and sometimes on one topic.  So sometimes they move to another topic.  These scattered thoughts and ideas do not stop at any one point and they keep moving around different points.  Their inclination is sometimes to one side and sometimes to the other side. Until all these thoughts and ideas are collected at one point in the present moment.  So this point is called focus.

Now let's try to understand focus in terms of atomic structure. An atom has protons and neutrons in its nucleus.  And electrons orbit around it.  Together in a certain sphere, they create a powerful source of excellent energy. By unfolding this secret, great inventions were possible and revolution came.  This is because all the components of an atom are focused together on the same thing, which is its nucleus.  Similarly, all neurons in the brain are formed by electrical and chemical interactions.  They form an integrated system of thoughts and actions of the human body.  If all these actions and thoughts come together like an atom at a central point in a moment of existence, then this central point will be an unbeatable focus, and become a mighty force. Only the force of focus can lead to revolutions from personal life to collective life. If it will be used in the direction of character building positively.

Mastering the Mind's Horse for Success:


Focus is a powerful force. We learned this from the previous example of an atom, but how to control such a great force, then how to incorporate it into practical life. You cannot take advantage of any power unless you have perfect mastery of it. As Sandeep Maheshwari explained in his public lecture, “think your mind like an unruly horse. you will have full mastery over it. then the horse of mind will be well-mannered and obedient. Then it will be very useful for you, otherwise, it will take you toward unknown ways and you will not reach the destination. you must have such skill and expertise to control the mind’s horse with the power of your focus, just like an expert horse caretaker.” So remember any skill can be achieved with constant dedication and hard work. Like any skill, focus also needs practice and dedication. Thus constant exercise of focus and dedication guarantees success which you choose by yourself.  As noted motivational speaker Jim Rohan said,

 "Success is not a result of chance, it is a result of choice."

Learning from Nature's Precision Hunters:

As your ability to focus within will increase. In the same way, your way of looking at things in front of you will become more and more broad.  You will begin to see the image more clearly on the canvas and you will be able to focus better on your target. When an eagle soars high for its prey, the higher it goes, the more focused it becomes, so that when it pounces on its prey, it does not allow it to run or hide.  Similarly, when a lion or a leopard wants to hunt a deer, they constantly lie in wait for it and during this time they do not let their focus wander around as soon as they attack the deer they do not let it run away.  All these hunting birds and animals have increased their focus so much that no prey that is their target can escape from them. Because through repeated practice and dedication they have perfected their focus while hunting birds or animals. Because the victims have not developed their attention capacity as much as needed to avoid predators, they become prey.

Imagine a huge hall room.  Which has a lot of darkness, nothing makes sense. There are dark paths everywhere, but you also have a flashlight in your hand. As soon as you turn it on and look for the door that will lead you out, the path becomes clear and easy for you. This flashlight is your focus, when you can't see anything in the dark paths of life, focus is like a flashlight that gives you light, just like a flashlight in a dark room, as Dr Zakir Naik says.  "No matter how much darkness there is, it only takes one ray of light to dispel it" and that ray of light is your focus.

Focus is a powerful force that provides unwavering support as following problems:

1.  Focus has a lot of power inside it which simply means that it gives you complete support to solve your problems with complete uniformity.

2.   Focus helps solve problems with greater clarity.

3.  The power of focus leads to a larger goal, regardless of the environment.

4.  Whatever work is done with the power of focus is very accurate and precise.

5.  With the power of focus, it becomes much easier to unify scattered thoughts.

Important steps to improve focus Physically are as following:

  • Some of the most important steps to improve focus are given below.  Acct upon them with all your diligence, then there will be a revolutionary change in your life.
  • Choose your education, work or business according to your mood because of the work in which your mood will be compatible with your work.  It will be easier to create focus.
  •  Start your day with a good diet and have a good breakfast that is high in protein and fibre.
  • Physical energy fluctuates throughout the day for which the peak time is from 8 AM to 12 PM where focus turns into hyper-focus to complete your task.
  •  Take a power nap in the very important afternoon. It should be at least between 30 minutes to 45 minutes. Taking a power nap restores the body's energy.
  • Make your sleep as restful and peaceful as possible while sleeping at night and take the necessary steps for it.
  •  Remove all types of devices that disturb sleep, such as mobile televisions, from your room and sleep with the lights off.
  • Try to stay away from activities that distract your mind while working in your surroundings.
  • During work Take small breaks in your daily routine of work which are of short duration which helps to increase focus.
  • Align yourself with the natural environment as much as possible. Because natural scenes are very helpful in increasing your focus.

Important steps to improve focus mentally are as following:

After improving the physical habits, we now see what steps we have to go through to take the mental focus to a very high level.

  • The brain is not designed for multitasking. Always try to do one task at a time.
  • Try to be silent for 15 minutes. Repeat this for 40 consecutive days at the same time.
  • Choose a place to work where there is less noise around you and more silence.
  •  Make a to-do list to do according to your mood
  •  If you start work, try to complete it with 100 percent focus.
  •  To those who spend most of the day with you, try your best to listen to them carefully and thoughtfully.
  •  You should have a clear order of priorities in your mind.  Which will help you to increase your focus more.
  • The higher your goal, the higher your focus.

        Remember you have to practise all these things if you want to improve your focus as it is said” practice makes a man perfect” and “no pain no gain”.
